Many older people enjoy sex, often with a new partner yet do not think they need to use a condom, believing they are just to prevent pregnancy, do not recognise the symptoms of STIs and are not aware of where to go to be checked. Healthcare professionals also need to ask older people about their sexual activity as many assume they are not having sex.
